Mushroom Fairy Lights around the base of a tree |
Materials
- Silicone
- Cling-wrap
- Rounded end object (I used a roll-on-deodorant bottle lid)
- Water based paint
- Disposable plastic lid, knife, and spoon
- Paper clips
- Solar powered fairy lights
- Sticky tape
- Ping-pong balls
- Mushroom Caps
- Squeeze some silicone onto a disposable plastic lid.
- Add a small amount of some water colour of choice.
- Mix well using the disposable knife.
- Rip off some cling-wrap.
- Place the mixed silicone onto one half of the cling-wrap and fold the cling-wrap over the silicone.
- Pull cling-wrap down tight over the rounded end object to form into a mushroom cap shape.
- Remove from the rounded end shape and wrap around a ping-pong ball and fix bottom of cling-wrap in place with sticky tape.
- Leave to cure for 8 hours
- Once dry trim away the unwanted parts of the cling-wrap but leave the cling-wrap that is covering the silicone that is left.
- Light Stems
- Bunch four or so lights together from the fairy lights and sticky tape into a stem shape. Cover the stem with a layer or silicone and wrap with cling-wrap as the sticky tape will not last in the elements outdoors.
- Bend a paper-clip into an umbrella shape with a spike that will be long enough to stick into the ground to hold the mushroom upright in the garden.
- Place the caps on top of the paper-clip and glue in place with some extra silicone.
Playtime
Solar lights also used on the Creek and Water Storage and Miniature Painted Brick Village projects.
